A friend and I were on a Wild and Creative photo shoot for a new set of Oracle Cards I am creating. The photo shoot was full of lilacs. It was a beautiful day filled with the scent of beautiful flowers and spring beauty in all its glory. Did I mention I love Lilacs?
There is something about their short time with us every year, that brings a sense of extra creativity and imagination to my daily routine. For those of you that follow the meanings of flowers and herbs, you will know that Lilacs have a magical energy of keeping you protected, banishing negativity, providing your life with harmony and most importantly, balance. Purple is also a very creative and intuitive color that increases one’s inspiration. It symbolizes the world of magic and mystery.
Beltane, a mystical holiday also known as May Day, is finally here (May 1st). The day falls exactly six months apart from Samhain, which is Halloween (October 31st). Beltane and Samhain, are considered to be two special turning points of the year. On these days, some believe that the realm of the human and magical/supernatural world is almost non-existent.
Hopefully today you will do something to show your love and respect to the Earth and the beauty that surrounds us. Possibly plant flowers, go for a relaxing walk, create something beautiful for your outdoor area, or admire the natural beauty all around you. Enjoy the outdoors.
I would also love for you to comment and tell me…
- What are you going to get up to on this magical day?
- What flower do you feel most connected to right now (for all flowers have different meanings)?
- How do you feel about the energy in your area right now? Does it feel magical?

My May Day ended up with lots of tears 🙂 It was strange because normally I didn’t burst into tears that quite easy, but when I was stopped by the policemen while driving back home, I just felt so lonely and nothing could stop my crying. Even the policemen were scared too haha. However, yesterday was pretty an emotional day

Everything was out of the ordinary for me yesterday. I didn’t go into work at my normal time. I didn’t follow any of my normal routines at all. It was a very nice day, full of fun and spontaneity. So, yep, I would say there was some magic afoot.

Lilacs are my favorite too! And now I live in a tropical climate and they don’t grow here. I didn’t know of their magical and protective properties but I’m not surprised and am certain that’s part of the reason I feel a connection to them, in addition to their beautiful color and ethereal scent. They are a fond memory from a mostly dreary, abusive childhood. Thanks for the post Sarah. Hugs.

I was so upset that day. Things didn’t feel right at all. That was the same for last year too. Don’t know why?

May 1st for me was a really crazy day… Nothing I did was normal. Every route I took to get somewhere ended up being different, nothing was on time, it was so odd. But now knowing about Beltane makes it very interesting and kind of special. Thank you for the blog post!

Wildflowers uplift my spirit knowing they even grow amongst unkempt roads, giving proof that beauty can surface anywhere! I love stargazer lilies too, the scent is tantalizing! Me and my daughter, Kaetlyn share this Month for our birthday, hers the 2nd and mine the 11th…that is magical in itself. We decorate our door with something beautiful and welcoming. We are currently revamping our home this month, removing what no longer serves us and simplifying our lives by keeping only what lifts our spirit!

This was the first year I have heard about Beltane. It has intrigued me. I have always felt a connection with daffodils of all things, and tulips. I am feeling that this year will be a very special year of nourishment and healing of my soul. There are three things that hold a special connection for me – flowers, butterflies and the ocean. I plan to figure out how to bring myself in alignment with those to feel at peace. 😀
